As of July 12, the sanctuary will reopen for Sunday morning worship. Our first Wednesday night meal will take place July 15, reservations needed.
*Your Administrative Council is planning the most inclusive, with precautions, return to the building according to CDC guidelines, Gov. Abbott's recommendations, Mayor Anthony Williams' guidelines and the needs of St James UMC participants. St James is following the current guidelines for protection during our times of gathering in our facilities. 1. Enter Shepherd Street side under the new portico. 2. Each person will be screened before entering. 3. All will be given hand sanitization, asked to wear masks and practice social distancing. 4. Ushers will seat families together with at least 4 feet separation between them and the next guest. Every other pew will be blocked. 5. Holy Communion will be served using great precaution during preparation and serving. 6. There will be no Sunday School classes prior to worship service until further notice. 7. Children's Church will continue, following the guidelines. 8. A nursery will be provided for the morning worship service. 9. There will be overflow seating in the fellowship hall where the service will be streamed via YouTube. For Wednesday night activities, including the meal: 1. There will be two separate serving times/groups, in order to maintain social distancing. 2. We ask that you call and make reservations for your preferred time slot. 325-692-0263, ask for Elaine. You may choose 5:15 to 5:50 or 6:00 to 6:40. 3. You will be seated and served by volunteers wearing masks and serving gloves. You will be asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing as you enter the building. 4. Choir members will gather in the sanctuary at 6:30. Our choir director, Alan Jones, will have designated seating. (The first choir rehearsal will be Wednesday, July 15.) In all things, let us step boldly forward in our faith and relationships with God and one another. This is an opportunity for us to demonstrate respect and consideration for one another while we worship as the body of Christ. Thank you for your ongoing patience and support as we faithfully navigate this new season together. Coming soon to a sanctuary near you...repaired ceiling, restored pews, kneeling rails and altar, new tile, new carpet, expanded AV room, new doors and improved lighting. You must see it to believe it! You will also notice an improvement to the heating and air conditioning. |
